5 Minutes of Hope

Hey, Doug Dial here with two or three minutes of hope.

On the way to and from work I pass by a landfill that is filled with garbage, waste and rubbish. We throw away so much stuff. Most of us have several waste baskets throughout our homes and a garbage container or two outside the house.

How unlike God’s economy. He wastes nothing.

Let’s visit the scene of the miracle of the loaves and the fishes, shall we?

When the disciples told Jesus to send the crowds away for food and lodging, Jesus replied, “You give them something to eat.”

Do you suppose He might have been looking Peter’s way?

Hold onto that thought.

You see, Jesus is all about seeing that His sheep are fed.

So, He takes what is available, (another sermon for another day) blesses it, breaks it and multitudes are fed. Afterward He admonishes the disciples to gather up the fragments that nothing be wasted.

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” John 6:10.11 NIV

Dear one, every broken piece of your life, that you will allow God to bless, can be sustenance for others.

Let’s not be nursing and hiding our hurts from one another but allowing God to bless our brokenness.

Do you remember Peter after the crowing of the rooster? He was drowning in guilt and shame for denying his Lord and master. Christ’s response:

Loser! Trader! You denied my Name!

No. No! NO!

Jesus forgave and reinstated Peter and commissioned him to feed his sheep.

Friend, God wastes nothing!

Place your broken pieces into the Master’s hands, let Him bless your mess and with those 12 baskets left over … feed … His … sheep.
