• My Deliverer (part 7)

  Hey, Doug Dial here with one minute of hope.

  O magnify the Lord with me; and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:3,4

  Got some fears? Yes, we are all human. We all have fears. But the key seems to be … seeking the Lord. THEN He’ll answer. THEN He’ll deliver.

  We don’t just sit down in front of a nice Netflix movie to watch and pop some corn and expect it to happen by itself.

  Seek the Lord.

  Talk to Him.

  Ask Him.

  Knock on heaven’s door.

  Don’t give up! Don’t get through praying until you pray through. And then … we’ll pray some more for on the morrow there may be plenty more to fear.

  Seek Him

  He is my Deliverer!

• Still Standing

  Contrary winds have blown across my heartstrings and wreaked havoc with my haven and safe, happy home.

  Terror gripped and ripped at my mind; as I helplessly watched my most precious love slip from this life into eternity.

  Suffocating loneliness, as I have never known before, descended upon me like an avalanche.

  I did not know the human heart could possibly feel this much pain and loss and trauma.

  Bitterness has come knocking at my heart’s door several times; but I refuse to answer.

  My life has changed and been rearranged in a million ways; and I don’t always know how to answer the questions anymore.

  However, I’M — STILL — STANDING!

  She didn’t believe in the power — of letting go.

  Until opening both hands then — whaddya know.

  Like a caged bird set free — the pain and hurt were gone.

  Now that she’s learned to let it go — she’s finally moving on!

• Leave it Behind

  On a journey, tedious,

  I bear a heavy load.

  Was hoping the trip would be easier;

  but I walk a wearisome road.

  Is there no one to help me

  carry all this weight?

  I’m feeling suffocated.

  My heaviness is my fate.

  *****~~~~~

  What’s that I’m dragging behind me?

  Why, that’s my lifelong luggage.

  I keep a record of EVERY THING,

  then I store it up as baggage.

  *****~~~~~

  Inside you’ll find my memories.

  Go ahead, pop the lid.

  Everything ever done to me;

  and everything I ever did.

  *****~~~~~

  All my hurts, all my woes;

  all my wayward ways.

  All my questions, all my doubts;

  all my nights and days.

  *****~~~~~

  But, recently someone mentioned freedom;

  the kind that’s genuine, and lasts.

  Oh, boy, what I wouldn’t give

  for freedom from my past!

  *****~~~~~

  So lately, I’ve been struggling,

  and thinking in my mind.

  Maybe, just maybe, NOW is the time

  to simply leave it behind.

• Lose the Weight

  Hey, Doug Dial here with 1 minute of hope.

  At last count, there were countless diet and weight loss programs on the market. We are inundated with slogans like, “Give us a week and we’ll take off the weight.” Or, “What are you ‘weighting’ for?”

  The most successful and the oldest weight loss program precedes time. That’s right, Jesus was slain before the foundation of the world. The cross SCREAMS forgiveness!

  Do you want to LOSE the weight?

  Friend, God is all about forgiveness. And … because Jesus forgave OUR trespasses on the cross … we can and MUST forgive those who have wronged us.

  Oh, the WEIGHT of unforgiveness! Bitterness, anger, and untold damage to the one who holds onto it.

  Forgive! Let it go!

  Carry it … just once more … to the Master’s feet and lay … it … down.

  Lose the weight.
