Tisha and I were invited to attend a neighborhood Bible study several months ago. We hardly knew anybody in the group but have come to love and appreciate each and every one of them.
We meet on Wednesday nights and lately, the pastor of this church has encouraged the congregants to write their very own Psalm of praise to our God.
Please accept my humble offering:
- Like a bird set free: your power and love have released me from the grip of death, hell and the grave.
- Therefore will my praise be loud and long and filled with an abundance of thanksgiving.
- As the good shepherd loves and leads and longs for me: so will I bask in the greatness and goodness of my God.
- Therefore will I worship my Rock and my King with abandon.
- As the pull of the world, the flesh and the devil grows ever fainter: so will I tighten my grip on the One who truly matters.
- Therefore my meditation of the lover of my soul will consume my every night and day.
- Because of your unique and unfailing love my heart has been pursued, calmed and captured by the one I forever adore.
- Therefore my tongue will never be silent but will gladly boast in the one I long for and love.
- Because you have apprehended me and called me by name to your nail-pierced side I will always desire to serve you.
- Therefore I lay aside my robes, kneel at your lovely feet and with a contrite and redeemed heart will lavish all of my love upon you. Selah
