Out-singing Anxiety

Have you ever met a worry wart?

You know, a handwringer. A nervous Nellie. A worrier.

Now then, an exceptional worry wart worries that when they worry they don’t worry enough. Then … they really get worried!

Oh, my!

NO, I’m not poking fun! I’m hoping to help someone today whose anxiety is off the charts.

Hello friend and welcome to 5 Minutes of Hope.

Today’s topic is: Out-singing Anxiety

The poet penned these words:

Worry and worship

climbed into the ring.

Worry got anxious

Worship began to sing.

Worry chose to look within

but worship only looked up.

Worry became exhausted and drained

while worship had a full cup.

Anguish, apprehension, and anxiety is the bitter fruit worry brings forth.

Worry is defined as: mental distress or agitation resulting from concern usually for something impending or anticipated.

Dear one, what if we OUT-SING our anxiety?

HERE are a few facts:

Worry drags you down. Worship lifts Him up.

Worry looks within. Worship focuses on Him.

Worry thinks of what might be. Worship looks to the great I Am.

♫ TURN your eyes upon Jesus. Look full into His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.

He is SO worthy of our worship!

There is a LIFE-CHANGING portion of Scripture that depicts who He IS and what He will DO for us:

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth

Does not become tired or grow weary; There is no searching His understanding.

He gives strength to the weary,

And to him who has no might he increases power.

Even youths grow weary and tired,

And vigorous young men stumble badly,

But those who wait for the Lord

[who expect, look for, and hope in Him]

Will gain new strength and renew their power;

They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];

They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.

Isaiah 40:28-31 AMP

It’s more than a song … it’s a lifestyle of worshipping and adoring this magnificent and marvelous uncreated God!

Again, the poet’s pen:

Let’s exchange our worry for worship.

Let’s exalt the King of kings.

Let’s lift our eyes to the everlasting God,

who grants strength to the soul that sings.

♫ I love you Lord, and I lift my voice. To worship You, oh my soul, rejoice. Take joy, my King, in what You hear. Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.

♫ Lord I lift your Name on high, Lord I love to sing Your praises. I’m so glad You’re in my life, I’m so glad you came to save us. You came from heaven to earth to show the way. From the earth to the cross my debt to pay from the cross to the grave from the grave to the sky Lord I lift your name on high.

Honestly friend, the choice is OURS. LET the negative news flood the airwaves. I’m gonna sing louder and longer and worship our worthy Savior and King.

Mighty God, we choose to worship the God who IS over worrying about what MIGHT be. You REMAIN in control no matter what goes on in our lives and in our world. Help us, oh King, out-sing our anxiety. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we pray. Amen

Friend, may you be FILLED with hope today and share it with others.
